Fridley, MN- The MLC women earned their first win of the season, sweeping Crown
9-0 in their Tuesday morning match.
The Knights had a month break in action from their previous match against St. Catherine, where they lost 0-9. This time around, the women opened up conference play and came out on the other side of a sweep, dominating their three doubles matches by the score of 8-2, 8-1, 8-0.
In singles play, MLC also swept the Polars, with
McKenzey Crowley (6-2, 7-5),
Sarah Hoffe (6-1, 6-0)
Charis Glende (6-2, 6-0), and
Rachel Schoeneck (6-1, 6-4) controlling the pace of play. Meanwhile,
Josie Bieberitz and
Abigail Schewe both earned (6-0) sweeps in their matches.
When asked about his team's performance, head coach
Paul Koelpin said, " I was pleased for the players that they were able to raise their level despite the practice challenges we've experienced. It was good to see some success. They represented themselves well."
The women go to (1-3) with the win and will return to action on Sunday, March 26, when they face off against another UMAC opponent in UW-Superior.
