St. Paul, MN - The MLC women's tennis team lost their seventh straight match to Northwestern on Monday evening. The Knights went down
9-0 to the Eagles, for a second time this season.
The Eagles swept MLC in doubles play, but the Knights didn't go down without a fight, as the teams of
McKenzey Crowley/
Sarah Hoffe and
Katie Kutz/
Abigail Schewe were both defeated 8-5.
Crowley had the best opportunity to pick up a singles win in her No. 1 match. The junior fell 4-6, 1-6, but showed flashes of a possible victory against Annie Orvis. The Knights had difficulty in the rest of the singles matches, with Hoffe having the next closest result, with a 2-6, 2-6 loss in the No. 2 match.
The Knights were up against a very competitive opponent in Northwestern; a team who has a 35-1 record in UMAC singles play this season.
Up next for MLC (1-10,1-4) is a Tuesday afternoon match at Bethany on April 18. The Knights had a close 5-4 loss to the Vikings in their last match and will look to gain their second conference victory of the year.
