Superior, WI - MLC baseball went down
10-0 on Saturday in the first game of their 3-game series to UW-Superior.
The Yellowjackets used a sacrifice fly to get on the board in the bottom of the first and then scored a pair of runs in the second and third inning to jump out to a 5-0 lead through four innings of play. UW-Superior rode that hot start at the plate with 5 more runs the rest of the way to top MLC 10-0.
The Knights had difficulty solving the Yellowjackets' starting pitcher, Ryan Rodriguez. The left-hander fanned 11 MLC batters and only allowed 2 hits in his complete-game shutout of MLC.
MLC did have a chance to make it a game in the top of the fourth when
Spencer Lilienthal and
Mason Cox each had a single to get two runners on base. However, the Knights were unable to get them home after both
Carter Seltz and
Jackson Lindemann were fooled at the plate, as they struck out looking.
Michael Fromm was on the hill for MLC and the senior went 6.2 innings, while allowing 10 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits.
With the loss, MLC has lost six straight to go to (3-11, 0-6) and will play a doubleheader tomorrow, Sunday April 23 to finish out the series at UW-Superior.
