Mankato, MN - The offense continued to struggle in its
16-2 loss at Bethany on Tuesday. The Bethany win gave the Vikings a sweep of the Knights, as they defeated them handily in all three meetings, outscoring MLC 46-2 in the games.
Despite another tough loss for Knights' baseball, the team did score their first runs of the season (2) in Tuesday's game. The pair of runs were driven in by
Mason Cox, who singled into right field in the third inning and doubled into left center in the fifth inning.
Another bright spot for the Knights came from the play of
Christian Bachenburg, who has come on strong lately to gain more playing time and at-bats at the plate. The freshman scored a run and has also played solid defense at the short stop position.
Michael Fromm gave another hard working effort on the mound, but surrendered 7 runs in just two innings on the hill.
Caleb Heckendorf and
Caleb Carlovsky came in relief for Fromm and pitched 2 innings apiece.
On the flipside, the bats for Bethany would remain hot, racking up 18 hits to lead them to an eighth consecutive win. The Vikings also stole seven bases on the MLC pitching staff, utilizing their speed and situational awareness to get into scoring position.
