Men's Golf Participates in Twin Ports Collegiate

Superior, WI - The Martin Luther College men's golf team participated in the Twin Ports Collegiate in Superior on Saturday and Sunday.

Day One (Saturday)

Day one of the event saw MLC place fifth as a team out of seven schools with 317 strokes (+33) in the Par 71 course at Nemadji Golf Course. UW- Superior Team A won the event with 295 strokes.

Sam Hansen tied for 15th out of 20 golfers with a score of 78 (+7). Paul Frick and Luke Latzke followed right behind Hansen, finishing 18 holes in 79 strokes (+8). Conner Willard from UW-Superior took first place and shot an even par of 71.

Day Two (Sunday)

On day two, the Knights improved their fifth place standing from the previous day and finished in a tie for fourth place overall with Crown throughout both days. The Knights shot a 307 on Sunday, bringing their total to 624. UW-Superior built upon their first place momentum and continued it over, shooting 290 and edged out the other six schools.

The top finisher for MLC  Hansen, who claimed seventh overall after a much better day of golf on Sunday, bringing him from 15th to the seventh spot with a score of 71.

The Knights also had a top 15 finish in Frick, who earned 12th overall after shooting a 76 on day two. Meanwhile, Jordan Otto shot up the board with a strong Sunday, finishing with 77 strokes, after his day one score of 81. Otto ended in a tie for 15th place.

Latzke and John Martin each tied for 25th after a two day score of 165.

MLC men's golf returns to the green for the UMAC preview on Thursday, September 14 at the Pebble Creek Course in Becker, MN. Tee time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
