Pearson wins MLC Spring Invitational as Knights earn 2nd place

New Ulm, MN - The MLC golf teams hosted the 2026 MLC Spring Invitational on Thursday at the New Ulm Country Club. All schools in the UMAC participated, and the meet was moved up to 9 a.m. due to the weather forecast. The men's team shot very well on the green with a score of 313, which finished second only behind Northwestern, which shot 311. The MLC women finished in 438 strokes for fifth in the competition.

With about 60 golfers competing on the men's side, sophomore Benjamin Pearson took home the first-place trophy, finishing the Par 70 with a score of 72. Pearson won by four strokes, as the second-place golfer, Julian Bhardwaj from Bethany, shot a 76.

The next lowest total of the meet for the Knights was from John Martin, who shot a 77 and was tied for fourth in the standings. Jacob Bigelow tied for 11th with a score of 81, while Cooper Jensen finished his two rounds of golf with an 83, which placed him T-22nd.

For the MLC women, Erin Pulice led the Knights with a score of 103 while Allyson Bullington and Allie Rogne each shot 109.

MLC golf will have one more meet to wrap up the 2025-26 season with a meet at Indian Hills Country Club in Stillwater, MN, on Monday, April 27, at 1 p.m.
