Mitchell, SD - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team played their third game of the 2023 season in an away game at Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday, September 9. The Knights gave a nice effort, but were ultimately defeated by a final score of
5-0.
The Tigers came out hot in the first period and scored three goals within the first 25 minutes of action. The third goal came from a MLC foul, resulting in a penalty goal kick from Cesar Requena. The end of the first period saw many fouls from both teams as the score remained 3-0 in favor of Dakota Wesleyan.
The Tigers would tack on two more goals in the second period to make it 5-0 and held off any and all attempts from the MLC attack to secure the victory.
The Knights had a tough time getting past the Dakota Wesleyan defense and only managed two shots on goal from
Isaias Santos and
Silas Gawrisch. Goalkeeper
Adam Rosenbaum recorded 13 saves as the Tigers offense came at him throughout the game.
MLC goes to 1-2 on the year and will play Buena Vista for their home opener on Saturday, September 9, at 4:30 p.m.
