Watertown, WI - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team had a successful trip down to Watertown, defeating Maranatha Baptist 75-36 in last night's game played at Luther Prep. Tonight, the Knights picked up where they left off and came away with the season sweep of the Sabercats, winning
76-33.
In Monday's game, MLC started off with a 15-0 run and Tuesday's game was no different with the Knights going up 33-7 after the first quarter. The MLC press was once again an issue for Maranatha as the Sabercats were forced into 28 turnovers.
Grace Kieselhorst led the Knights with a game-high 18 points and did so from the outside, knocking down four 3-pointers.
Jordyn Heckendorf and
Lydia Feidt finished with 13 points and three steals apiece to lead the Knights' backcourt.
The perimeter defense of MLC showed up strong again and didn't allow a single 3-pointer, as Maranatha went 0-of-7 from deep.
The MLC bench also received some valuable playing time in a collegiate setting and outscored the Sabercats 28-0.
MLC now improves to 7-12 overall and remains 2-5 in UMAC play, but will look to add another conference win against Bethany on Saturday, January 27. Game time is slated for 12 p.m. in the LSC gymnasium.
