New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team gave a hard-working effort in its Tuesday afternoon game with Bethany on the MLC soccer pitch, but the Knights came up short in a
5-0 loss to Bethany.
The Knights weren't able to control the ball much throughout the 90 minutes of play, as the Vikings were on the go for the majority of the game. Bethany connected on two of their opportunities early on in the game, as Daniel Almeida and Guilherme Gancho put the Vikings up 2-0 with just under 11 minutes gone off of the clock.
From there, the Vikings added one more goal in the first period and then tacked on two late goals in their shutout victory. Bethany finished with 33 shots (14 on goal), while MLC had two shots (1 on goal).Â
Goalkeeper
Nicholas Russ was kept busy and made nine saves for MLC.
MLC (2-11-2, 1-7-1) hopes to bounce back with a win on Saturday, October 19, when they host Crown College at 1 p.m.
