New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College men's soccer played hard in their final home contest of the 2024 season. The Knights fell to Minnesota Morris
3-1 in the afternoon on Tuesday, but outplayed the Cougars in many facets of the game.
Despite the loss, MLC had more total shots (14) and gained a big advantage in corner kicks with a 7-0 edge in that category. Many of the Knights' opportunities came in the second half, with a noticeable change in their aggression after halftime.Â
The Cougars scored their first goal at the 12:42 mark and extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 35th minute of the first period.
The MLC goal came from
Johannes Bourman, who found the back of the net on a crosser from
Stephen Wietzke in the 61st minute of play.
Before the game, MLC recognized two players in
Jed Mittelstadt and
Zair Palacios, who played their final home game in a Knights uniform.
MLC (2-13-2, 1-9-1) will finish the season with three road contests. Their next matchup will be at UW-Superior this Saturday, October 26, at 1 p.m.
