New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College volleyball team took on the Minnesota Morris Cougars on Friday evening for "Dig Pink" Night in support of breast cancer awareness. The Knight battled hard, but fell short as the Cougars completed the sweep
3-0.
Minnesota Morris started off the match with nicely played sets, as they executed their way to a 25-17 win in the first set. The Cougars followed that up with an efficient second set where they took it 25-14, hitting .412 on 16 kills and only two errors.
MLC wouldn't go down without a fight though and gave Minnesota Morris a tough out in the final set as they continued long volleys back and forth, keeping the set within a couple of points, before the Cougars responded with a strong few points to win the match 25-21.
Minnesota Morris received a big lift from Tori Scheler, who recorded three blocks and Clara Holden who dished out 16 assists.
Meanwhile, the Knights were led by
Anna Kieselhorst in the digs department, with the sophomore finishing with 14.
Grace Kieselhorst led MLC in kills (12) and was second in assists (12), while
Ella Walz had the most assists with 13.
Lydia Feidt had a solid defensive match as well, picking up four blocks to pace the Knights.
MLC goes to 6-18 overall, 3-7 UMAC and will host Crown tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the LSC gymnasium.Â
