New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College volleyball squad not only swept their match with Crown College
3-0 on Saturday, but they also completed the season sweep of the Polars after deating them 3-1 in early October.
The Knights bounced back from a 3-0 loss to Minnesota Morris on Friday evening and answered with a strong first set in which they took it 25-17 with 19 kills in the set. MLC then took care of business in the next set with a 25-11 advantage, after being up by as many as 15 points in the set.
Crown created some resistance in the third set and tied it up 24-24 after MLC was up 24-18, but the Knights found a way to get the final couple of points to win the set by two and walked out with another conference win.
Grace Kieselhorst had an all-around performance in the match, pacing the Knights with 14 kills on a .481 hitting percentage, digs (13, along with her sister
Anna Kieselhorst), and aces (3). The senior also totaled 14 assists for MLC, which was second-best on the team behind
Ella Walz, who led with 16 assists.
Elsa Brauer made her first start of the season and got into the act with five kills on a .364 hitting percentage.
Up next for MLC (7-18, 4-7) is a road contest at Northwestern next Saturday, November 2, at 1 p.m.
