Knights Lock Down Mount Mary in 89-42 Victory

New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team played well on both ends of the court on Friday night in their home victory over Mount Mary University 89-42.

MLC recorded a season-high in points scored (89) and a season-low in points allowed (42) in front of the crowd in the LSC gymnasium.

The Knights started the game off hot from the floor and sunk four 3-pointers on the way to their comfortable 28-6 lead through the first 10 minutes. Additionally, MLC was active defensively and held the Blue Angels to just 29 percent shooting, forcing Mount Mary into difficult shots all game. The Knights clamped down and forced 22 turnovers, scoring 32 points from them.

MLC made the lead an even more sizable margin, leading Mount Mary 41-15 at the break and the second half allowed the reserves to get into the act, as 15 of the 16 MLC players found the scoring column. Mya Morris led all players with 23 points and did almost all of her damage from beyond the arc, shooting 7-for-11 from deep.

Emma Dorn added nine points and eight rebounds and did that in limited time, playing only 14 minutes.

As a team, the Knights also shot efficiently from the free-throw line, going 12-for-15 from the charity stripe.

Up next for MLC (3-2) is an exhibition game at Viterbo following Thanksgiving Break. That game is on Tuesday, December 3, at 6:30 p.m. in La Crosse, WI.
