St. Paul, MN - The Martin Luther College men's basketball fell
108-75 in their final game before Christmas Break on Saturday evening. The Royals hit 15 3-pointers and shot nearly 57 percent from the field to move past the Knights.
Meanwhile, MLC was held to 22 percent from distance and Bethel jumped out to a 50-36 lead at halftime. The Royals had four players with over 15 points as Nick Burke and Adam Mattes finished with 21 points apiece to pace Bethel. Burke contributed five of the 15 3-pointers, while Mattes also made an impact defensively, picking up three steals for his team.
While the Royals shot well from the outside, they also succeeded in the paint, scoring 46 of their 108 points from the key.
Adam Loberger led the Knights with 17 points and seven rebounds, while
Benjamin Pearson added 13 points. Two other players reached double figures for MLC as
Benjamin Vasold finished with 11 points, while
Trey Lauber put up 10. Both players also grabbed five boards in the contest.
MLC goes to 3-4 overall with the loss, but will now have almost a month off before playing again. MLC will be back on the court on Wednesday, January 8, at 5:30 p.m. against Minnesota Morris in their away conference opener.
