Appleton, WI - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team played in its second match of the 2024 season on the road at Lawrence on Saturday afternoon.

The men would have difficulty with the Vikings and lost 8-1 to the Midwest Conference school. Lawrence swept the Knights in doubles competition and won the first three singles matches, before Matthew Koelpin secured a victory in his No. 4 match (6-7, 6-3, 10-6). The sophomore did a solid job of overcoming a tough first set tiebreaker, by coming back to win the final two sets in order to get the Knights on the board.

Josiah Wordell made his season debut in the No. 3 singles match and gave a great effort, but was unable to defeat Lawrence's Ethan Uribe and lost 3-6, 4-6.

The men will travel up the road in Wisconsin for another tennis match, when they face Ripon College on Sunay, February 18, at 1 p.m.
