St. Paul, MN - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team was swept
9-0 in a pair of round robin matches to Hamline and Northwestern known as the "Triangular."
Hamline 9, MLC 0
In the first match, the men enjoyed some sunny skies at their 4 p.m. first serve with the Pipers, but Hamline would comfortably take the three doubles matches.
In singles play, the two teams competed in a pro-set format (one in which the winner is required to win 8 games by a margin of two games). The Pipers handled business in all six matchups, with freshman MLC's
Jonah Uhlenbrauck giving his opponent the most trouble with a 2-8 loss in No. 5 singles.
Northwestern 9, MLC 0
The 7 p.m. meeting saw the Knights and Eagles square off in a non-conference match, with
Brian Friesenegger and
Elijah Schulz forcing their No. 2 doubles opponent into a competitive match (4-8).
Another freshman in
Aidan Mattek gave his No. 6 counterpart a solid fight in his 4-6, 3-6 loss.
MLC (2-7, 0-1) will look to regroup in their next match at Bethany Lutheran College on Wednesday, April 17, at 3 p.m.
