Owatonna, MN - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team split its two matches this weekend. Wartburg defeated the Knights
7-2 on Friday in Waverly, Iowa, but MLC bounced back the following day to beat Crown in the conference opener
9-0.

The match had a number of very tight contests, but Wartburg edged out MLC in all three doubles matches.
Britney Prahl gave a hard-nosed effort in No. 1 singles and came up just short 5-7, 3-6, while
Katie Schoeneck narrowly lost her No. 6 match in a third set tiebreaker 4-6, 6-4, 0-1 (8-10).
Charis Glende defeated her No. 3 singles opponent 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) and
Rachel Schoeneck won the No. 5 match 6-1, 6-4.
MLC 9, Crown 0
The women came up strong for another 9-0 sweep over Crown, with the first showing coming on March 23.
A couple of doubles matches finished in 8-0 victories for the Knights, with Glende/
Abigail Schewe (No. 2) and
Katie Kutz/Rebekah Schroeder (No. 3) coming out on top.
Prahl and Schewe won their matches decivisely, with Prahl earning a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in straight sets and Schewe winning 6-0, 6-1 in No. 4 singles. You can see the rest of the MLC winners in the box score.
MLC (2-4, 1-0) now go on to face Buena Vista University on the road on Monday, April 8, at 3:30 p.m.
