Owatonna, MN - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team competed well in a pair of matches this weekend, but came up short in an
8-1 loss to Wartburg on Friday in Iowa. The Crown Polars then defeated MLC
5-4 on Saturday in Owatonna.
Wartburg 8, MLC 1
The men received their point in the match with Wartburg from
Brian Friesenegger and
Eli Stern in No. 3 doubles. Friesenegger also gave his No. 6 singles opponent a good battle, but dropped the match 1-6, 5-7.
Crown 5, MLC 4
The duo of Friesengger and Stern won another doubles appearance (8-4) in the match with the Polars on Saturday. Meanwhile, the freshman pair of
Jonah Uhlenbrauck and
Aidan Mattek took their No. 3 doubles match and also won by a final score of 8-4.
Friesenegger and Stern gave MLC the other two points of the match, as Stern won his No. 3 singles match 6-4, 6-2, while Friesenegger defeated his No. 4 opponent 6-2, 7-6 (7-0 in the tiebreaker.)
The Knights (2-4, 0-1) head back to Iowa on Monday, April 8, for another non-conference match with Buena Vista University. The first serve will begin at 3:30 p.m.
