Storm Lake, IA - MLC women's soccer opened up its 2024 campaign in a 1-1 draw at Buena Vista on Friday evening. MLC finished with two ties last season, with both occurring in conference competition.

The Beavers found the back of the net at the 30:41 mark of the first period when Mia Norton connected on her shot. MLC evened up the score at the 60:08 mark in the second period after Katie Schoeneck put the Knights on the scoreboard. Schoeneck picked up where she left off her Second Team All-UMAC freshman season and led the Knights with the goal and two additional shots on goal in 90 minutes of action on the field.

MLC had several other players log 90 minutes, including newcomer goalkeeper Maria Vik, who recorded five saves on the day.

The Knights (0-0-1) will get right back to work following the Labor Day weekend, as they prepare to host their first home game of the season against Dakota Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4.
