Tigers Control the Ball in Win Against Knights

New Ulm, MN - The MLC women's soccer team played their home opener against Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday, but the Tigers controlled the game offensively from the first whistle by the official on the way to a 4-0 win over the Knights.

Dakota Wesleyan recorded 50 shots (30 shots on goal) and kept the MLC defense active throughout the 90 minutes of play on the field. The Knights' defense hung in there and made some nice defensive stops, despite the Tigers possessing the ball most of the game and MLC goalkeeper Maria Vik made 25 saves.

Annika Enevoldsen broke the scoreless tie with a deep shot at the first period's 28:12 mark, and Sara Ewert tacked on a pair of goals at the 34:04 and 41:15 minute mark. Enevoldsen struck another goal in the beginning moments of the second period and that would end the scoring for the day.

Katie Schoeneck had MLC's two shot on goals while playing all 90 minutes.

MLC (0-1-1) will now move on to face Maranatha Baptist on Saturday, September 7. The game is planned to start at 1 p.m.
