Knights Finish Off Ripon Classic with a Split as Grace Kieselhorst is Named to All-Tournament Team

Ripon, WI - MLC completed their four-match tournament on Saturday with a loss against Luther (3-1) and a win to wrap things up in the late afternoon over Mount Mary (3-0).

Luther 3, MLC 1

In the match with Luther, the Knights jumped out to a 25-15 advantage to take the first set due to an efficient attacking percentage of .357 with 14 kills on just four errors. The Norse flipped the score in the second set, won 25-15 over MLC, and carried that momentum over into the final two sets where they fended off the Knights.

MLC produced more kills than Luther (51-45), but the Norse edged them out defensively with an 11-3 advantage in blocks. 

The Knights had three players reach double-digit kills with Lauren Paulsen leading the way with 16, while Grace Kieselhorst and Lydia Feidt finished with 11 apiece. Meanwhile, Kieselhorst and Ella Walz each recorded 22 assists during the match.

MLC 3, Mount Mary 0

MLC won their last match decisively over the Mount Mary Blue Angels by a final result of 25-9, 25-11, 25-9. The Knights had lights-out efficiency from an offensive standpoint and had a team attacking percentage of 4.60. MLC committed only five errors in the three-set sweep and recorded 34 kills. Walz led the Knights with 18 assists for the fourth consecutive contest to begin the season, as Anna Kieselhorst had a solid time serving the volleyball, finishing with five service aces.

The Knights (2-2) leave the opening season tournament with a split record through four matches and senior Grace Kieselhorst walks away with All-Tournament recognition for the second straight season. Kieselhorst led MLC in kills (50) and second in assists (57).

MLC returns to the court on Friday, September 6 for another tournament appearance, but this time it'll be hosted UW-Superior. To start it off, the Knights will face the College of St. Scholastica at 5 p.m. and Hamline at 7 p.m.
