Storm Lake, IA - The MLC Volleyball played well in a five-set match with Buena Vista on Tuesday evening, but the Beavers fought off the Knights, defeating them
3-2.
The match saw a lot of back-and-forth action with both teams trading off the first two sets as MLC took the opening set 25-16. Buena Vista countered with a 25-18 win in the second set before each team switched off with 25-17 victories respectively in sets three and four to even up the match 2-2.
Ultimately Hope Vanderlinden recorded multiple kills to help the Beavers separate in the final set as they topped the Knights 15-6.
In all five sets, one of the teams ran away with the set as the closest margin was seven points in the second set.
Jadyn Rausch put her teammates in good positions and had the majority of Buena Vista's assists, dishing out 36 of her team's 40 for the match.
Lauren Paulsen led MLC in kills (13), while
Anna Kieselhorst began many rallies for the Knights, recording 22 digs in five sets.Â
MLC (3-6) will shift their focus to the first UMAC match of the year when they face North Central on Saturday, September 14 on the road. The match starts at 1 p.m. in Minneapolis.
