Milwaukee, WI - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team was looking to pick up their second win in as many days this weekend against Wisconsin Lutheran College but fell short against the Warriors in a
4-1 defeat.
Neither team had scored for most of the first period as the offenses were held in check. That was until Morgan Bluhm found the back of the net just before the half at the 43:49 mark of the first.
The Warriors then wasted no time in scoring their next three goals shortly after intermission, as Ava Zarling scored five minutes after the break. Zarling assisted on a goal scored by Ginny Shade (56:15) and then made her second goal of the afternoon merely 30 seconds later to put her squad up 4-0.
MLC wasn't going to finish the game without a goal scored though, as
Katie Schoeneck scored her fifth goal of the season just before the clock expired at the 88th minute.
Schoeneck has been on a tear in her past two games and currently leads the conference in goals scored.Â
MLC goalkeeper
Maria Vik was challenged by the Wisconsin Lutheran offense throughout the game but did manage to record 20 saves despite the loss.
The Knights will move to 1-2-1 for the season and face Minnesota Morris on Thursday, September 12, at 4:30 p.m. However, the game won't count for the conference standings due to rescheduling reasons in the offseason.
