Winona, MN - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team started up another season on Saturday when they traveled to Saint Mary's for a seven-point match. The Knights hung in there for most of their matches, but the Cardinals edged out MLC
6-1.
In the No. 3 doubles match,Â
Aidan Mattek and
Jonah Uhlenbrauck defeated their counterpart 6-2. The No. 2 doubles match saw
Eli Stern and
Isaiah Scharf give a solid effort before falling 4-6 in it.
Matthew Koelpin (4-6, 0-6) and Mattek (3-6, 2-6) kept it somewhat close in their No. 2 and No. 5 singles matches respectively. Freshman
Noah Koelpin played his opponent the closest, and won his second set and topped his opponent in No. 6 singles, picking up a point for MLC.
MLC (0-1) will resume action against Crown on Friday, February 14, at 1:30 p.m. The two teams will face off in Owatonna.
