Women's Basketball Shuts Down Maranatha Baptist

Watertown, WI - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team traveled on the road for Monday afternoon's game with Maranatha Baptist. The Knights defeated the Sabercats decisively in the middle of November and did the same today, completing the season sweep over Maranatha Baptist with a 78-29 win.

MLC won their 12th game of the season, which matches the total from last season's team and the Knights did it by forcing the Sabercats into 44 turnovers, which was a season-best for MLC. The Knights capitalized on most of those miscues as well, scoring 47 points off turnovers in four quarters of play.

MLC never trailed in the game and blew the game open by taking a 25-3 after the firs period.

Grace Kieselhorst led the team with 13 points and four steals and knocked down three shots from beyond the arc in 15 minutes played. The MLC starting five all had limited time on the court due to the score and Mya Morris finished with 12 points, while Lydia Feidt also collected four steals in just 14 minutes played.

For the second game in a row, the Knights got all 16 players some time on the court.

MLC held Maranatha Baptist to just under 27 percent shooting and only allowed one player to reach double figures.

MLC (12-5, 5-1) will now play their third game in four days when they host North Central on Wednesday, January 29, at 7:15 p.m.
