Morris, MN - The MLC women's soccer team looked to win its third game against Minnesota Morris this season in as many meetings when the two conference schools met up on Saturday afternoon. Both teams played well defensively, limiting scoring opportunities, but the Cougars got past the Knights
2-1.
All three goals were scored in the first period by each squad, as Minnesota Morris put up its pair of goals within nearly five minutes of each other in the 12th and 17th minute respectively. MLC countered with a goal themselves, when
Rachel Schoeneck reached the back of the net in the 24th minute.
The Cougars led in total shots 24-6 and in shots on target 9-6, while the Knights had three corner kicks compared to six for Minnesota Morris.
Maria Vik recorded seven saves in 90 minutes on the field and received a big help from her teammates defensively.
MLC will now go and play Bethany on the road on Wednesday, October 15, at 4:30 p.m.
