New Ulm, MN - The MLC volleyball team played its first home contest in two weeks when it hosted UW-Superior for a 7 p.m. match. The Knights previously played the Yellowjackets earlier this month at their place and fell 3-0. On Friday, UW-Superior showed up with another balanced effort from their rotation to collect another
3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-14) sweep of MLC.
UW-Superior claimed a double-digit lead in the first set before they eventually finished off the set with an efficient .341 hitting percentage. In the set, the Yellowjackets recorded 18 kills on only four errors and replicated those same numbers in the second set, which included another 25-16 set win. In the second set, UW-Superior had an attack percentage of .318.
In the third and final set, the Yellowjackets almost hit the .300 mark and completed the match with 50 kills.
Despite the hard competition, MLC never backed down and played hard until the final point was recorded in each set.
Anna Kieselhorst had one of her better matches of conference play and had a team-high 16 digs from the libero position.
Lydia Feidt also had double-digit digs (13) and tied the team lead in kills (6) alongside
Greta Nolte.
Up next for MLC is a non-conference match with Buena Vista on Saturday, October 25, in the LSC gymnasium. First serve is at 1 p.m.
