UW-Superior Shuts Out MLC

New Ulm, MN - On Friday, the MLC women's soccer squad played UW-Superior for its first meeting of the season on a hot day on the MLC soccer pitch. The Knights gave it a go, but were unable to keep up with the Yellowjackets' attack as UW-Superior shut out MLC 6-0.

Once UW-Superior found the back of the net on its first goal at the 11th minute, the shots seemed to fall more for their side, finishing off the first period with four additional goals all within 15 minutes of each other. Lily Klocker converted on a pair of goals consecutively near the 37th and 40th minute.

The Yellowjackets added a penalty goal kick in the 63rd minute for its only score of the second period, as both teams emptied the bench for much of the remainder of action.

UW-Superior held a 33-1 difference in total shots over MLC, including 22-0 in shots on net. Rachel Schoeneck got off the lone shot attempt off a free kick for the Knights.

Despite the loss, Maria Vik did come up with some impressive saves at the goalkeeper position, with 16 saves.

MLC will have a home game on Tuesday, October 7, against Bethany at 4:30 p.m.
