New Ulm, MN - The MLC women's soccer team was defeated
8-1 at home on Tuesday afternoon to Bethany after Elena Lujan Rubio connected on four goals for the Vikings.
Rubio also got some help from teammate, Reese Morad, who scored the first (8:57) and last (81:10) goal of the day for Bethany.
MLC fought hard throughout and gained possession of the ball for a good chunk of the opening period, but couldn't get much traction past the Bethany defense in order to have scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, Bethany converted on its scoring chances early and often, scoring three of its eight goals within the first 15 minutes of action.
Bethany had more shot attempts (22-17) and a had a 17-3 upper hand in shots on target.
The Knights did find the back of the net in the 76th minute on a
Rachel Schoeneck goal. Schoeneck's goal was assisted by
Naomi Foley.
MLC will look to get back to its winning ways when they go on the road to Minnesota Morris at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 11.
