Sheboygan, WI - The MLC men's basketball team had a good opportunity to pick up its second win of the season in a road contest at Lakeland University. The Knights had a 43-37 lead at halftime, but the Muskies started the second half on a 16-3 run within the first three minutes and took the lead for good at the 18:06 mark to beat MLC
88-83.
MLC defeated Lakeland 91-79 last season in New Ulm after
Adam Loberger led the Knights with 36 points and seven rebounds. On Friday, the sophomore did more of the same, putting up a game-high 34 points and 13 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Loberger was also effective from the free throw line, going 15-of-17.
Turnovers were a factor in the second half for the Knights and the Muskies capitalized on them scoring 19 points off turnovers.
MLC led for almost 18 minutes in the first half and at one point their largest lead was 17 points, but Lakeland finished the last eight minutes of the first half by hitting multiple 3-pointers and layups near the basket to cut into the deficit.
Benjamin Pearson also notched a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) and recorded five assists for the MLC backcourt.
Trey Lauber reached double figures with 14 points and five rebounds, while
Luke Fix scored 10 points.
