New Ulm, MN - The MLC women's basketball team played its final game before Christmas Break on Wednesday at home versus Lakeland University. In what was a close game for most of the contest that featured five ties and six lead changes, the Muskies outscored MLC 22-8 in the fourth period to defeat the Knights
74-57.
Each team had a lot of turnovers throughout the contest, but Lakeland shot almost 47 percent from the field and cashed in on their 3-point opportunities, going 14-of-28 (50 percent) on them, including the fourth quarter when they used five outside 3-pointers to pull away from MLC.
The Muskies also used a deep bench to help them get the win over MLC, scoring 32 points in that area. Besides the second quarter, where MLC shot almost 60 percent, Lakeland held the Knights to just under 33 percent shooting for the game.
Ava Stein and
Mya Morris each led MLC in points (13), while Stein had nine rebounds and Morris made four steals.
Lydia Feidt also finished with four steals to go along with 12 points, while
Wilhelmia Wenz had nine boards as well.
MLC has a few weeks off now over the Holidays and will get back into it on Monday, January 5, at 5:30 p.m. in a home game against Viterbo.
