New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team picked up their seventh conference win of the season after defeating Crown College on Wednesday night
72-56.
The first quarter ended in an 8-8 tie as neither team could get much to fall in the hoop, but the Knights turned things around in the second after outscoring the Polars 30-14. As a result, the Knights took a 38-22 lead into the half. MLC was only up 29-22 but finished the half with three consecutive 3-pointers as
Audrey deBoer came off the bench and provided a spark by nailing two of them.
Emma Dorn hit the final one with under 10 seconds left and MLC seemed to find their footing from that point on.
MLC didn't allow for any sort of comeback to occur in the second half as they controlled both ends of the court for the remainder of play.Â
Lauren Paulsen had her best game of the season and had a season-high in points (19), 3-point field goals made (5), and field goals made (7). The senior also grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, two MLC frontcourt players Dorn (11 points) and
Ava Stein (10 points) reached double figures.
MLC's defense was key again towards their victory, holding Crown to 30 percent shooting and the Knights managed to take good care of the basketball, only turning the ball over six times.
MLC (14-8, 7-4) will play one final home game of the season on Saturday, February 15, at 2:45 p.m. as they face off against Minnesota Morris.
