New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team had a quick turnaround for their home match against UW-Superior. The Knights would honor four senior players for senior day --
Josephine Bieberitz, Katie Kutz, Abigail Schewe, and Jessica Waege.
UW-Superior took the three doubles games, and Schewe/
Rachel Schoeneck gave No. 1 doubles a tough out before the Yellowjackets claimed the game 6-3.
Schoeneck also challenged in No. 3 singles and almost gave MLC another point 5-7, 5-7, but UW-Superior hung on. Meanwhile,
Emily Gronholz fell 4-6, 2-6 for another solid game.
MLC's point came in No. 6 singles, with Kutz giving a nice effort on senior day, beating out her opponent after losing the first set for a 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-2) victory in a third-set tiebreaker.
MLC (4-7, 1-1) will be back on the court for one more home match versus Bethany on Tuesday, April 15, at 3 p.m.
