New Ulm, MN - The MLC women's tennis team picked up a
4-3 victory over rival Bethany this afternoon on the MLC tennis courts. Both teams responded in the match with back-and-forth battles, but the Knights proved to do just enough to win by taking three singles games and two out of three doubles contests.
Britney Prahl and
Abigail Schewe claimed No. 1 doubles 6-3, while
Katie Kutz and
Rebekah Schroeder fared well in No. 3 doubles 6-2.
Bethany won No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but
Josephine Bieberitz and
Rachel Schoeneck won hard-fought games in No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Bieberitz came out on top 7-5, 6-0 as Schoeneck won 7-5, 6-2.
Katie Schoeneck gave MLC the other point necessary for the win with her 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 6 game.
MLC improves to 5-7 overall, 2-1 and will square off with the Vikings once again in their next match after Easter Break. The Knights will go to Mankato then for a 3 p.m. match on Wednesday, April 23.
