Mankato, MN - MLC women's tennis earned its second consecutive victory over Bethany with a 5-2 outcome on Wednesday.
The Knights previously defeated the Vikings 4-3 on April 15 in a UMAC match and had more of the same success in today's nonconference match against Bethany. MLC swept in doubles as
Britney Prahl/Abigail Schewe won No. 1 6-2,
Josie Bieberitz/ Rachel Schoeneck took No. 2 6-3, and
Katie Kutz/Rebekah Schroeder won 6-2.
Bieberitz and
Rachel Schoeneck had competitive singles matches as each match went to a 10-point super tiebreak with Bieberitz winning her No. 3 game 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-8) and Schoeneck beating her No. 4 opponent 6-2, 3-6, 1-0, (11-9).
The other two points for MLC came via
Emily Gronholz in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and in No. 6 singles, where
Katie Schoeneck took it 6-2, 6-2.
MLC improves to 6-7 overall, 2-1 UMAC, and will face Crown on Friday, April 25, at 10:30 a.m. for a match in Waconia, MN.
