New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College softball team completed its three-game series with North Central at home on Wednesday after the two squads split the doubleheader last week before Easter. While those two games featured a pitcher's duel, today's game saw North Central get out ahead early on to beat the Knights
13-4.
The Rams jumped out to an 8-1 lead after putting up four runs in the second and third innings. MLC scored a run in the bottom half of the second when
Katie Rassat delivered an RBI single up the middle that brought in
Chloe Berg.
MLC added another run in the bottom of the fourth when
Emma Frey hit a sacrifice fly to make it 8-2. Following that point, North Central had their biggest inning yet in the top of the fifth frame as they scored five runs on as many hits to go along with two MLC errors.
Despite the outcome already being decided, Berg gave the Knights a couple more runs when she singled to right field with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.
Berg led the Knights in multiple categories, including RBIs (2), runs (2), and stolen bases (2), while
Jess Horn finished with a stolen base and a run scored as well.
MLC now gears up for their final home series of the season, starting as the Knights take on Crown College for a three-game series on Friday, April 25, at 3:30 p.m.
