Romportl, Crown Take Game 1 Over MLC

New Ulm, MN - The MLC softball team squared off with Crown College for game one of their three-game home series on Friday afternoon. The Knights hung in with the Polars for a good chunk of the game, trailing just 4-0 through five innings. However, Crown tacked on three additional runs at the top of the sixth to get past MLC 7-1.

MLC had a chance to get a run on the board in the bottom of the first inning after having the bases loaded with one out after a pair of singles from Chloe Koschnitzke and Chloe Berg.

Emmy Romportl pitched a complete game for Crown, giving up one run and striking out nine batters, and she also led the Polars with four hits and three RBIs at the plate.

MLC scored their run in the bottom of the seventh when Katie Rassat walked with the bases loaded, bringing in Koschnitzke from third.

Koschnitzke and Berg led MLC with two hits apiece, while Hannah Ott produced two walks at the plate.

MLC will play Crown in a doubleheader to finish off the home series starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. The Knights will also celebrate Parents' and Senior Day before and in the middle of game one and two.
