Waconia, MN - The MLC men's tennis team picked up its third consecutive win with a
5-2 victory over Crown College on Friday.
The Knights avenged their loss to the Polars in mid-February when they came up just short, 4-3, in a closely contested match. MLC flipped that close result with a well-played match that saw them take five of the six singles games to come away with the win.
Crown took two of the three doubles games, giving them one point, while MLC won No. 2 doubles 6-4 from the duo of
Isaiah Scharf and
Abraham Schlomer.Â
Eli Stern won a hard-fought battle in No. 2 singles as the sophomore took it 7-6 (12-10), 4-6, 6-3, while Scharf took care of business 6-2, 6-2 in his No. 3 contest.
Noah Koelpin earned a win in No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-4, and
Aidan Mattek collected a victory in No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-3. Schlomer won the fifth point of the match for the Knights, defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-4 in No. 6 singles.
MLC goes to 3-8 overall, 2-1 UMAC with Friday's match counting towards the conference standings. The Knights have a chance to win another match this season when they go to Northwestern on Saturday, April 26, at 4:30 p.m.
