St. Bonifacius, MN - On Friday, the MLC baseball team went to Crown College for the first and only meeting this season, and the Polars defeated the Knights
11-3.
Game one of the series started with the Polars totaling three runs in the first frame. Crown extended their lead to 5-0 following a pair of runs scored in the bottom of the third.
Carlos Walta cranked a solo homer in the top of the fourth to help himself on the mound. MLC then added two more runs in the next inning on an RBI single from
Parker Winghart and a sacrifice fly by
Samuel Rodriguez, making it 5-3.
Just as the Knights closed the gap, Crown responded with six unanswered runs across the next four innings combined, including three runs in the seventh.
Winghart led MLC with three hits, while Crown's Ashton Long led his squad with five RBIs.
MLC takes on the Polars later today for the remaing two games of the series starting at 1 p.m.
