Waverly, IA - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team resumed action on the court on Thursday at Wartburg College from the American Rivers Conference. The Knights gave it their all, but would fall
6-1 to the Wartburg Knights.
MLC hung in tough in doubles play, especially in No. 2 doubles, but Wartburg captured the best-of-three point to start off the match.
The MLC Knights countered with
Johannes Bourman's first singles victory of the season as the No. 1 player. Bourman split sets and won in a super-tiebreak as a decider 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 1-0 (13-11).
That'd be the lone point of the match for MLC, but the Knights competed in the other matches at hand with a No. 3 singles loss from
Isaiah Scharf 3-6, 2-6 and a No. 5 loss from newcomer
Abraham Schlomer 6-2, 4-6, 0-1 (5-10).
MLC (0-6) won't have to wait too long to play again as they will face off with Hamline University in St. Paul next Thursday, April 10, at 4 p.m.
