Waverly, IA - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team squared off against Wartburg College from the American Rivers Conference on the road on Thursday afternoon. MLC hung in there for most of the matches, but the Wartburg Knights came out on top
6-1.
MLC almost took No. 1 doubles, but Wartburg took it 7-5 before claiming the other two doubles games.Â
Britney Prahl picked up a big win in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 in No. 1 singles for the only point of the contest for MLC. Meanwhile,
Abigail Schewe played her No. 2 opponent hard 3-6, 3-6, as
Emily Gronholz challenged in No. 5 singles before falling 5-7, 2-6.Â
In No. 6 singles,
Katie Schoeneck played her No. 6 opponent well, before Wartburg took the point 2-6, 5-7.
MLC (2-5) is back at it on Saturday, April 5, when they take on Minnesota Morris for their first UMAC match of the season. The match is planned for 2 p.m. in Morris, MN.
