Sartell, MN - On Saturday, the Martin Luther College women's tennis team notched their third win of the season in their conference opening match against Minnesota Morris, beating the Cougars in a competitive match
4-3.
The Knights took on their conference opponent in a neutral setting at the Sta Fit Center, which was a change from it being played on the campus of Minnesota Morris.
MLC took two out of three in doubles play, including a 6-4 win in No. 1 (
Britney Prahl/Abigail Schewe) and a 7-6 victory in No. 3 (
Emily Gronholz/Rebekah Schroeder) to give the Knights one point.
Prahl then continued with another impressive performance in No. 1 singles and contributed another point in favor of the Knights with her 6-0, 6-4 decision. The Cougars would get their three points in No. 2, 3, and 4 singles, but MLC was in all three of the games.
MLC earned the win by coming out on top in No. 5 singles, where
Emily Gronholz defeated her counterpart 6-1, 7-6. Additionally,
Katie Schoeneck won 6-4, 6-2 in No. 6 singles.
MLC (3-5, 1-0) will look to add another win to the season with its first home match of the year on the MLC tennis courts on Tuesday, April 8. There, the Knights play Buena Vista starting at 12:30 p.m.
