New Ulm, MN - On Tuesday, the Martin Luther College women's tennis team had their best performance of the season in a dominant
7-0 victory over Buena Vista University on the MLC tennis courts.
The Knights completed the clean sweep of the Beavers, beating them in straight sets with no tiebreakers in either singles or doubles play.
MLC held Buena Vista to no points in the three doubles games as the duos of No. 1
Britney Prahl/Abigail Schewe, No. 2
Josephine Bieberitz/Rachel Schoeneck, and No. 3
Katie Kutz/Rebekah Schroeder each won 6-0.
In singles, Prahl controlled her No. 1 game 6-0, 6-0, while Schewe held off her opponent in No. 2 6-2, 6-3. Meanwhile, Bieberitz and
Rachel Schoeneck each won their No. 3 and No. 4 contests 6-3, 6-1.
MLC also received a 6-0, 6-2 victory from
Emily Gronholz in No. 5, and
Katie Schoeneck topped her counterpart 6-1, 6-0.
With the win, MLC improves to 4-5 overall, 1-0, and has gained some momentum, winning their second consecutive match. The Knights have a chance at another non-conference win on Thursday, April 10, when they go to St. Paul to take on Hamline University.
