Women's Soccer starts off UMAC play with a 2-1 victory at Crown

St. Bonifacius, MN - MLC women's soccer got conference play off to a good start with a hard-fought 2-1 victory on the road under the lights at Crown College. The Knights made it hard for the Polars to get much offensively, holding them scoreless up until the 66th minute of action, that only occurred due to a penalty kick.

MLC scored early on in the 11th minute of the first period to take a 1-0 lead after Anna Kramer scored her fourth goal of the season. Priscilla Boehm had the assist on the goal.

The Polars' penalty kick tied up the contest 1-1, but a shot from Boehm in the 73rd minute proved to be the difference maker as the sophomore continued her impressive play of late to also record her fourth goal of the year.

Kramer, Boehm, and Katie Schoeneck all have four goals which is T-1st in the UMAC at this moment.

MLC outshot Crown 14-5 (6-3 in shots on net) and the Knights had a stark advantage in corner kicks (6-1). With the help of the defense, Maria Vik made two saves and just the one goal.

MLC (4-2-1, 1-0) will look for another conference win when they host North Central on Parents' Day on Saturday, September 20, at 4:30 p.m.
