Roseville, MN - The MLC women's soccer team played another competitive game at Northwestern on Saturday, entering the contest on a hot streak, winning or tying in seven consecutive contests. However, the Eagles put an end to that streak with a
3-1 win over the Knights.
Northwestern's top player, Haley Mersberger showed up in a big way for her team and made it 2-0 early on in the first period after finding the back of the net in eighth and 16th minute of action.
After being held scoreless in the first half, MLC found some offensive success when
Anna Kramer connected on a goal in the 55th minute off of a pass from
Priscilla Boehm to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Knights' managed to hang around from there, but the Eagles' would put the game in favor of them with a third goal in the 72nd minute to secure the victory.
Northwestern controlled the ball for most of the game and out shot MLC 38-1 (13-1 shots on net) as the Knights' lone shot attempt went through the net.Â
