Watertown, WI - The MLC men's soccer team made its annual trip to Maranatha Baptist and ended up in a
1-1 tie with the Sabercats on Saturday afternoon.
MLC got on the scoreboard first when sophomore
Joshua Krenke hit his shot in the 26th minute of action. Krenke's goal was MLC's first of the season and
Silas Gawrisch was credited with the assist.
Neither team scored from that point on as the defenses didn't budge on either side, but Maranatha Baptist made the equalizer in the 67th minute. Following that goal, both teams kept each other in check and the game ended in the 1-1 draw.
There were two yellow cards issued (one on each side) as the teams played with a lot of intensity and hustle. Maranatha Baptist outshot MLC 20-8 and had a 7-4 advantage in shots on target.
Nicholas Russ recorded six saves and Krenke was the leading shot taker, with three (2 on goal).
