Superior, WI - The MLC women's basketball team took on UW-Superior for the first of two scheduled meetings between the schools as the Knights made the trip up to Northern Wisconsin. MLC gave another hard-working effort, but fell 59-46 as the Yellowjackets forced 18 turnovers from MLC to beat the Knights by double-digits.
The first quarter featured multiple lead changes with UW-Superior taking a 16-15 lead through one period of play. The second quarter saw the Yellowjackets create a little distance from MLC, with them making it 32-23 at the break.
MLC shot much better in the first compared to the second, as neither team got much to drop from deep. In the third quarter, MLC committed seven turnovers. Once the score was 47-35 at the 2:30 mark in the period, the Knights were unable to get within single digits, and the Yellowjackets earned the UMAC win.
UW-Superior had a balanced game with 27 bench points. The Yellowjackets also utilized their shot selection in the paint, scoring 28 points in that category.
Without
Mya Morris in the lineup for a third consecutive game, the Knights did receive a nice match from
Ava Stein, who earned a season high 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor with six rebounds.Â
Lydia Feidt put up nine points, five rebounds, and two steals, while
Anna Kieselhorst dished out a team-best five assists, and
Wilhelmina Wenz grabbed the most rebounds for the Knights (8).
MLC will be back on the court on Wednesday, January 21, when they host Bethany at 5:30 p.m.
