NEW ULM, Minn. - MLC women's soccer started slowly and fell behind early before rallying to take down Minnesota Morris 3-1 at home Saturday afternoon.
Anna Kramer scored twice for the Knights. The first was a 25th-minute goal to tie the match, less than three minutes after Morris took the lead. Kramer sprinted after the goalkeeper saved
Katie Schoeneck's shot and Kramer poked the rebound home.
Her second goal was MLC's third of the match in the 75th minute whe she sprinted after a back pass from the Cougar defense to the goalkeeper. When the goalkeeper attempted to clear the ball, Kramer stuck her foot out and deflected the ball into the goal.
"Anna created two hustle goals today," coach
Tyson Zarnstorff said. "She didn't give up until the ball was in the net."
Sydney Buch scored the go-ahead goal for the Knights after
Alaina Hackmann passed it to her about 20 yards from the goal. Buch's shot soared over the goalkeeper's head into the top of the goal. It was her first career goal.
Buch was needed to step into a starting role during the past several weeks because of injury and Zarnstorff said she's stepped in confidently.
"Sydney has been working hard for a goal her entire career and the ball just hasn't fallen for her," Zarnstorff said. "Today, her hard work paid off and she got her first career goal at a critical time in the game."
Maria Vik made four saves and earned the win in goal.
