Auburndale, FL - MLC baseball finished off its annual spring break trip to Central Florida with a doubleheader versus Elms College (MA) on Saturday. The Knights fought hard once again but fell in each contest
15-1 and
4-3 in game two.
Elms 15, MLC 1
The Knights' lone run of the game came in the bottom of the third inning when
Carlos Walta drove
Mark Vogel in with an RBI single to right field. With the score 3-1 heading into the top of the sixth frame, MLC was sticking in it until Elms put up a 5-run inning followed by a 7-run seventh frame.
Walta and
William Salgat led MLC in hits (2) while
Owen Proctor tossed three strikeouts and
Aidan Berg threw five K's in just a pair of innings.
Elms 4, MLC 3
In the second game of the day, MLC received another good outing from Berg, who went 6.1 innings and fanned 11 Blazer batters. The Knights were up 3-0, and Berg was tossing a shutout all the way up until the bottom of the seventh, when Elms put up four runs in the inning and won on a walk-off single. The walk-off hit was set up by an RBI double and triple from Elms to get their rally started.
Ryan Pufahl knocked in a two-run single to center field in the fourth, and the Knights put their other run on the scoreboard in the second.
