Mankato, MN - MLC baseball played its UMAC opening series this past weekend against Bethany Lutheran College, playing in a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. The Vikings swept MLC, winning game one
13-1, game two
10-2, and game three
11-3.
In all three games combined, Bethany recorded 33 hits, but in the final contest, MLC outhit the Vikings 9-8. However, the Knights committed five errors and gave up a grand slam in the first inning, which contributed to another Vikings win.
In games one and three,
William Salgat went 3-4 at the plate and led MLC with two RBI in each contest, leading the Knights in hits (6) and RBI (4) in the series. In game two,
Nathan Vance came away with two RBI, and
John Westendorf paced the Knights' defense with four assists at second base.
Parker Winghart also recorded four assists, doing it in game three from the shortstop position.
MLC is now scheduled to host their home opening series of the season this coming weekend, starting with a single game on Friday, March 27, at 3 p.m.
